Let's look at this string:
ReplyDeleteA- the environment
B- deforestation
C-lost habitat
D-endangered species
E-forest life cycle
Environment is definitely your largest topic here. Deforestation is smaller than that. So far, so good. Lost habitat comes next and here's the question: is it smaller? It's a consequence of deforestation, but is it smaller? I'm not so sure. It might be the angle you want to focus on, but if you think about it, it's the same size of topic. What's deforested, in this context, is lost habitat, so it's really the same size and not smaller. It could also be applied to a process that is not deforestation, e.g., building homes on good crop land, for example. Although, I took it as part of your intent to discuss deforestation.
Endangered species is yet another topic. While the diminution of species can result from deforestation, you don't say that in your topic. You could say "endangerment of species as a result of deforestation" and that would be a smaller topic than deforestation.
As for forest life cycle, that's a different topic from endangered species. Forest life cycle can include conditions that result in deforestation, e.g., a natural forest fire, but deforestation can also include human activity like logging that deforests an area. So this, too, is in the general vicinity of your topic, but not necessarily smaller than the topic above it.
Do you see this logic? I hope so.
Your questions are fine and in the area of your topic, so you will be able to work with these, but please think about this process of sizing your topic. There's a strong logic that has to be at work here, along with the ability to express concepts in a way that demonstrates that they are larger or smaller. Also, in this case, you are still working with large topics, so you will need to rely on your questions for your searching process, particularly when we get to databases.
