- discuss how the author, the publisher, the faculty member, the library, and the students can be accommodated
for the author, he/she gets paid for his work after he has presented it to the publisher who mass produce the the work which an agreement of money are split between them. after the work as been mass produces and sold it can go to the faculty members that will decide what to do with the book. the book will either go on the shelves to sell or be placed in a library for public use and purchases. a student can either go to the store after to buy the book or to the library to borrow the book.
- How can a fair arrangement be achieved
a few way to make things fair for everyone is to have a system that allows a certain time and amount of book can be checked out at any given time. this will limit how long a person could keep the book for their use to a few days to a month depending on how popular it is. another way would have multiple copies of the book so that there can be more than one being rented out and used at one time.
- What are the challenges in creating a fair arrangement for everyone
a few challenges that makes things fair for everyone would be money, time, importance, line up, and quality. the most important thing is money because with out it you cant get anything started. time would be next for that no one can rent the book for as long as they want without letting others get a chance at using the book or even returning it for someone else to rent. line up would be important because some one could be looking for the book but has been rented out but not returned yet, so it is important to make a list of who is next in line to receive the next available copy. the quality of the book should be in a fair condition, it is understandable that the book will show some wear and tear after a few usages, but should be kept in a good manner to help it from being destroyed.
- How can a balance be achieved between protecting privacy and meeting the needs of national security
i think that having a way of contacting the person who has the item rented to them should leave some evidence of where they live, a contact number, and photo i.d. to be able to locate or contact them for any reason needing to get the item back. it is important to not get too much information from some one but necessary to get enough to have the ability to reach the person.
- How did you react to the list of challenged books (were you surprised, for example)? Do you think some books should be banned or should all books be freely available? Why
i am surprised by the list of books challenged, but also in agreement with some of them. most school should not involve religion in teaching students how to read or write properly. i believe that all books should not be banned, but instead, be place in a category where it warned the readers about the content of the books.
- How have your overall ideas about information ethics changed or not changed after completing this unit
my ideas has increased from the way i look at copyrighted materials and privacy matters. before i would just not really care about copyrighted things and just do what i pleased, but now i found a new respect for it and even learned about the importance of privacy and how difficult it is to keep it in ballence with everything.
